Tesla Model 3 Is Now Sold Out in Canada for 2026 — Deliveries Slip to 2027

Tesla's Canadian delivery backlog has reached a new milestone: the Model 3 is now essentially sold out for the remainder of 2026. According to Tesla's online configurator, estimated delivery windows for all three Model 3 variants — the Premium Rear-Wheel Drive, Premium All-Wheel Drive, and Performance — have been pushed to December 2026-January 2027, meaning a customer placing an order today may not take delivery until early next year.

How fast the wait times grew

The change is a significant jump over just a few weeks. Earlier in August, Tesla Canada was showing September-October delivery estimates for both the Premium RWD and Premium AWD, while the Performance variant was listed at October-November. All three have now slid past the end of the calendar year.

Model 3 joins Model Y on the 2027 waitlist

The Model 3 now matches the Model Y's lengthy Canadian timelines. Earlier in August, the Model Y RWD and Performance were already showing December 2026-January 2027 estimates, while the Model Y Premium AWD was listed for December — a date that has since also moved to December 2026-January 2027.

Why Canadian orders take longer than U.S. ones

There is an important difference between the two Tesla models' delays. Canadian Model Y inventory is currently supplied from Giga Berlin in Germany, while Canada's Model 3 supply comes from Giga Shanghai in China — both requiring overseas shipping that adds significant time to the delivery window. Canadian buyers effectively sit at the end of a longer logistics chain than their U.S. counterparts.

A parallel story is unfolding south of the border, but with a different cause. Earlier in August, the entry-level Model 3 RWD in the U.S. jumped from a four-to-five-week estimate to January-March 2027. Unlike the Canadian cars, that sedan is built domestically at Tesla's Fremont factory in California — with no ocean crossing involved, the most likely driver is demand outpacing production.

What it means for Canadian buyers
