teslaTesla 2026.38.6.2 Rolls FSD Streaks to Legacy Model S and X — Plus Grok Loses Its Beta Label
Software update 2026.38.6.2 extends FSD streak celebrations to Intel-based HW3 Model S/X vehicles, adds a Model Y L badge animation, removes Grok's beta tag, and improves Service Mode diagnostics.
Tesla released software update 2026.38.6.2 on Monday, November 3, 2026, extending its recently introduced FSD Streak celebrations to legacy Model S and Model X vehicles equipped with Intel processors and Hardware 3 (HW3). The update arrives less than a month after Tesla shipped FSD v14.3 Lite to those same legacy platforms.
FSD streaks: gamification meets driver-assist
The FSD Streak feature — first shipped with v14.3.4 to newer Model 3/Y vehicles — rewards owners for accumulating consecutive FSD miles without disengaging. The 2026.38.6.2 update brings that feature to the older S and X models, meaning owners of 2016–2019 vehicles with the HW3 chip can now build and display their streaks.
Not every owner is enthusiastic. As Drive Tesla Canada reported when the feature first debuted, some drivers have raised safety concerns about gamifying assisted driving: if the reward is for going longer distances without taking over, does that create a perverse incentive to avoid disengaging when you should?
Other changes in 2026.38.6.2
- Model Y L badge animation: Owners can now tap the Launch Series badge on the touchscreen to trigger an animation — a small cosmetic addition for the new three-row model.
- Grok beta label removed: The Grok voice assistant (previously introduced with 2026.38.6) no longer carries a "beta" tag in the user interface.
- Service Mode improvements: A new button lets technicians quickly switch the touchscreen language when it doesn't match the vehicle's country setting. The vehicle automatically restores the owner's original language on exit.
- High-voltage isolation diagnostics: Service Mode now displays more detailed isolation resistance values and diagnostic alerts, useful for pre-delivery inspection and warranty work.
Canadian relevance
Tesla's FSD (Supervised) is available in Canada alongside the United States, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and ten European markets. Canadian owners of legacy Model S and X vehicles can expect the streak feature to appear with the same 2026.38.6.2 build. The Grok voice assistant launch in Canada was confirmed earlier this year with the 2025.38 update cycle.
