iA Dealer Services Signs VinFast Canada — Its First Pure-EV OEM Protection Deal

iA Dealer Services, a business unit of iA Financial Group, is expanding its OEM business into the pure-play electric vehicle market through a new partnership with VinFast Auto Canada. The company says the agreement, reported by Canadian Auto Dealer on August 28, is its first OEM partnership with a manufacturer dedicated exclusively to EVs.

For Canadian buyers, the immediate effect is on the ownership paperwork side of the transaction: customers purchasing VinFast vehicles will initially have access to Tire & Rim Protection and Incident Protection, with additional protection products planned — though the companies did not provide details or a timeline for those.

Scale behind the deal

iA Dealer Services is no niche player. The firm says its products are offered through a direct distribution network encompassing 4,800 automobile and other motor vehicle dealers, OEMs, and preferred partnerships across Canada. It already provides protection products for EVs through existing dealer and OEM relationships; VinFast is the first EV-only manufacturer to join that list.

"This partnership marks an important milestone and reflects our commitment to supporting all automotive brands, retailers and customers across Canada in delivering high-quality vehicle protection programs," said Vincenzo Ciampi, senior vice-president of iA Dealer Services.

Why it matters for VinFast in Canada

VinFast has been building its North American retail operation through a dealer model rather than company-owned stores, and financing-and-protection infrastructure is a quiet but essential part of that puzzle — it is what allows a franchise dealer to deliver a complete F&I menu at delivery. Brian Lawrence Finnerty, deputy CEO of sales, marketing and aftersales at VinFast North America, said the automaker looked for "an organization that shared our commitment to customer satisfaction" to support its long-term vision in Canada.

The companies said the agreement follows several years of relationship development and collaboration.
