Tesla Finally Opens Gatineau Supercharger After Years of Delays — Eight V4 Stalls Live
The Gatineau, Quebec Supercharger is live at 425 Boulevard de la Vérendrye Ouest with eight V4 stalls, ending a years-long wait. It's the sixth Quebec site opened this year, with seven more under construction.
Tesla has opened a new Supercharger in Gatineau, Quebec, bringing a long-promised location online after years of delays and a change of plans. Photos show eight V4 charging posts installed at 425 Boulevard de la Vérendrye Ouest, and the station was energized this week after sitting idle for nearly a year following the visible installation work reported in November 2025.
How long Gatineau waited
Gatineau's path to a Supercharger stretches back to October 2021, when the city was first listed on Tesla's charging map. Construction did not follow immediately, and an earlier proposal at a different address ultimately went nowhere. By November 2025 there was finally visible progress — eight V4 posts installed at the Vérendrye Ouest location — but, as is typical with many Canadian Supercharger projects, the site sat dark until this week when Tesla was able to energize it.
Charging rates at Gatineau
Rates vary by time of day, with a steep off-peak discount overnight:
- Tesla owners: $0.26/kWh from 11 p.m. to 10 a.m., rising to $0.45/kWh between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m.
- Non-Tesla EV drivers: $0.37/kWh overnight, $0.63/kWh during the day.
For road-trippers heading to Ottawa or the Laurentians, the overnight rate makes Gatineau one of the cheapest places to top up in the province.
The bigger Quebec picture
Gatineau joins several Quebec communities that gained new Tesla Superchargers this year:
- Sherbrooke — January
- Laval and Quebec City — March
- Drummondville — August
- Mont-Tremblant — September
Seven other Quebec Supercharger projects remain under construction: Deschambault, Brownsburg, Montcerf-Lytton, Chambly, Mirabel, Brossard on Boulevard Lapinière, and Montreal on Rue Jean-Talon Est. That pipeline would more than double the province's Supercharger footprint over the coming year.
