Polestar Postpones Q3 2026 Results, Extending Its Troubled Reporting History

Polestar delayed its Q3 2026 financial results just two days before the scheduled release, citing its quarter-end closing process. The latest delay follows a pattern of repeated reporting issues over the past two years.

Polestar Postpones Q3 2026 Results, Extending Its Troubled Reporting History

Polestar has postponed its Q3 2026 financial results — originally scheduled for November 5 — just two days before the deadline. The Swedish EV maker said the delay is necessary to allow more time to conclude its quarter-end closing process, but did not provide a new reporting date, only saying it "expects to announce one soon."

A pattern of delays

This isn't the first time Polestar has missed a reporting deadline. Over the past two years, the company has repeatedly struggled to file on time:

  • February 2024: Postponed preliminary full-year 2023 results, citing additional time needed for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • April 2024: Delayed Q4 and full-year 2023 results a second time, citing accounting misstatements in 2021 and 2022 financial statements
  • June 2024: Received a Nasdaq deficiency notice after failing to file its annual Form 20-F by the deadline
  • January 2025: Disclosed balance sheet errors in 2022 and 2023 statements related to unique tooling
  • February 2025: Pushed Q4 and full-year 2024 results to April

What's driving the current delay

The timing is notable because it comes just after Polestar reported record Q3 2026 vehicle sales — 14,371 global deliveries, up 1% year over year. However, the brand's growth outside the U.S. has been slowing, with non-U.S. sales falling 8% in Q3.

Polestar also faces ongoing financial pressure. The company recently secured a $600 million term loan facility from its majority owner Geely to support operations, and has been working through a reverse stock split to maintain its Nasdaq listing.

What this means for Canadian owners

For Canadian Polestar owners, the delay doesn't directly affect vehicle support or warranty coverage. However, repeated financial reporting issues can signal broader operational challenges. Polestar continues to sell the Polestar 2, Polestar 3, and Polestar 4 in Canada, with the Polestar 2 production ending in China in 2026 after more than 200,000 units built.

The company has not indicated when the Q3 results will be released. Canadian investors and stakeholders should watch for an updated date announcement in the coming days.

EV Owners Go Back to the Dealer: J.D. Power's 2026 Canada Service Survey, in Numbers

J.D. Power's 2026 Canada Customer Service Index shows average repair costs at a record $443 per visit — $566 at dealers versus $323 at aftermarket shops. But EV and PHEV owners defy the value math: only 34% of ZEV service visits go to independent shops, versus 51% for gas cars, and 42% of ZEV owners trust dealers for complex repairs.
