Ford Recalls 248 Lincoln Nautilus and Corsair Hybrids in Canada Over Unexpected Gear Shifting

Transport Canada has opened a recall on 248 hybrid SUVs sold in Canada because a fault in the integrated parking module can cause the transmission to shift into neutral without the driver asking for it. The notice covers the 2027 Lincoln Corsair and the 2026 and 2027 Lincoln Nautilus, all of which are hybrid electric vehicles.

What the fault does

According to the Transport Canada notice, on certain vehicles a problem in the integrated parking module "could cause the transmission to shift into neutral unexpectedly." When the fault is present, the driver is typically warned in two ways at once:

  • A wrench warning light appears on the instrument cluster.
  • A message reading "service vehicle soon" or "shifting system error" is displayed.

The practical risk is loss of drive in a low-speed or parking situation — the car can drop out of gear at the moment the driver expects it to hold position. Transport Canada says the recall applies only to hybrid electric vehicles; conventional (non-hybrid) Corsair and Nautilus models are not affected.

What's being done

Owners are being asked to take their vehicle to a Ford/Lincoln dealer, where the module fault will be corrected — the remedy is a repair performed at the dealership, not a software nudge the driver can do at home. Transport Canada lists the affected population at 248 vehicles in Canada.

Is your vehicle affected?

Because the recall is narrow (two models, three model years, hybrids only), the fastest way to check is to enter your 17-digit VIN on Ford's recall lookup. You can find the VIN on the driver's-side doorframe, at the lower driver's-side corner of the windshield (visible from outside), or on your registration and insurance documents.

If your car is in the affected set and you have noticed the wrench light or a "shifting system error" message, that is the fault the recall is addressing — book the dealer appointment rather than waiting. If you see the message on a vehicle that is not a 2026–2027 Nautilus or 2027 Corsair hybrid, contact your dealer separately, since it would fall outside this specific recall.

Kia Canada's COO Elias El-Achhab says EV3 and EV5 orders are already backed up and that the 49,000-vehicle Chinese EV quota is 'just a bonus.' The EV3 launched at $39,744, the EV5 at $43,495 and the EV4 at $38,995 — all under $45,000.
