Tesla Doubling Port Hope Supercharger to 16 Stalls With New V4 Build

Tesla is expanding its Supercharger network in Ontario, with construction underway on eight new V4 charging stalls at its existing Port Hope station. Drive Tesla Canada reported the build on September 24, 2026, citing photos shared by reader Dale C.

Where and what

The expansion is taking place at the existing Supercharger location on Telephone Road, just off Highway 401, beside Harvey's and Free Topping Pizza. The site currently has eight Supercharger stalls capable of delivering up to 150 kW, making it a convenient charging stop for Tesla owners travelling between Toronto and eastern Ontario.

Based on the construction activity, Tesla appears to be adding eight new V4 charging posts immediately west of the existing chargers, which sit on the eastern side of the parking lot — doubling the site's capacity from eight to 16 charging stalls.

Why the expansion matters

• Congestion relief: The addition should help reduce congestion at the location, particularly during busy travel periods along the Highway 401 corridor between Cobourg and Belleville.
• V4 hardware: The new posts bring V4 architecture to the site. V4 stalls support higher peak power and come with longer cables and a magic-dock-style form factor designed for non-Tesla vehicles.
• Corridor context: Port Hope sits roughly 100 km east of Toronto on Canada's busiest highway, where holiday-weekend Supercharger queues are a recurring complaint among Ontario Tesla drivers.

Ontario's busy Supercharger month

The Port Hope build continues a busy stretch for Tesla's charging network in Ontario and across Canada. Earlier in September, Tesla rewrote Supercharger pricing at more than 200 Canadian sites, and the company has been expanding V4 hardware nationwide — from new stations in Ottawa and London to northern-BC openings in Vanderhoof, Terrace and Prince Rupert.

No timeline has been announced for the Port Hope activation, but with stalls visibly installed and groundwork progressing, the expanded station should come online in the coming weeks, ahead of the winter travel season.
