Tesla FSD v14.2 Lite Begins Rolling Out to HW3 Model S and Model X in Canada

Tesla has started rolling out FSD v14.2 Lite to Hardware 3 (HW3) Model S and Model X vehicles in Canada, bringing the automaker's latest generation of supervised self-driving software to its older flagship vehicles for the first time.

What is rolling out

The update is currently reaching a limited number of early-access vehicles on software version 2026.27.10, with a subsequent build (2026.27.11) also including FSD v14.2 Lite. Neither release has reached the wider customer fleet yet, and Tesla has not announced a timeline for broader availability.

Owners taking delivery of the update report that core V14 improvements carry over, including smoother intersection handling, better pedestrian and cut-in detection, refined navigation logic, and fewer unnecessary slowdowns — the most common complaint about earlier HW3 releases.

Why the wait mattered for Canadian owners

Hardware 3 Model S and Model X vehicles — built roughly between 2019 and 2023 — were left out when Tesla began rolling out FSD V14 Lite to other HW3 cars (Model 3 and Model Y) in July. Those owners, many of whom purchased Full Self-Driving years ago when it cost far less than today, have been waiting without official communication from Tesla on timing.

The HW3 population in Canada skews older and more loyal: these are early FSD adopters who were told a hardware upgrade would come, then watched V14's full feature set land on newer HW4 vehicles first. V14 Lite is the compromise — same software generation, scaled to the older computer.

The signal that the wait was ending

The strongest indication that the rollout was imminent came from Tesla's Vice President of AI Software, Ashok Elluswamy, who — asked about the S/X timeline at the Cybercab launch in Austin on September 3 — replied: "Oh, I thought it was supposed to go out last week." The comment, reported by Drive Tesla Canada on September 24, was the first substantive signal that deployment was days or weeks away rather than months.

What Canadian HW3 S/X owners should watch for

As with the Model 3/Y deployment, expect a staged rollout — early access first, then wider waves — rather than a single-day push. Canadian owners should watch their mobile app and in-car software tab for the V14.2 Lite release notes. And as always with FSD: the software remains supervised, meaning the driver is responsible for the vehicle at all times, regardless of hardware generation.
