Tesla Model S Hits 1 Million Kilometres in Kelowna, Canada

A 2016 Tesla Model S in Kelowna, British Columbia, is about to cross one million kilometres. Tesla Kelowna hosted a public event on Saturday, September 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 3425 Circuit Road, inviting owners and EV fans to watch the odometer roll over while enjoying games, pizza and ice cream. Demo drives were offered for attendees who wanted to experience Tesla’s current lineup.

Attendance was free, though Tesla asked visitors to RSVP through its Canadian events website. The milestone is equivalent to roughly 100,000 km annually, 8,333 km per month or 274 km every day. The million-kilometre journey equals about 25 trips around the Earth, roughly 1.3 round trips to the Moon, or 13 trips between Sydney and London.

Original motors and suspension

What makes the accomplishment notable is that Tesla says the Model S remains on its original motors and suspension. The car was first covered by Drive Tesla Canada on September 15, 2026, with the article noting the vehicle’s use and service history in western Canada.

While one million kilometres puts this Model S among the world’s highest-mileage Teslas, it is not the overall record holder. German owner Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg’s Model S P85 has likely crossed 3 million km, though that car has used four battery packs and at least 13 drive units. The Kelowna car has completed its first million kilometres with its original motors and suspension.
