Geely Launches Canadian Website, Signals 2027 Market Entry with Dealer Network
Geely becomes the latest Chinese automaker to establish a Canadian web presence at geely.ca, revealing plans for a dealer network and market entry in Q1 2027. The site lists no vehicles or pricing yet.
Geely has launched its Canadian website at geely.ca, becoming the latest Chinese automaker to establish a local web presence ahead of a planned market entry. The site confirms a dealer network is coming but provides no vehicle lineup, pricing, or firm launch date.
Dealer network planned, details thin
The website states Geely's "Canadian journey is coming soon, with a growing dealer network planned for key markets across the country." No cities, dealership groups, or specific locations are identified. The English version offers no timeline, while the French version indicates a launch expected in the first quarter of 2027 with a dealer network expanding across major markets.
Notably, the site lists no vehicles, specifications, reservations, or pricing — only a reference to a "new generation of electrified vehicles." Geely's corporate profile mentions Geely Auto, Lynk & Co, and Zeekr as group brands but gives no indication whether the latter two are part of Canadian plans.
Groundwork laid since spring
The website follows months of behind-the-scenes preparation. In April, Drive Tesla Canada reported Geely was hiring for six senior roles in Toronto tied to the "Geely Auto Brand." A month later, EX5 and EX2 test vehicles were spotted arriving at Toronto Pearson, though Geely has not confirmed Canadian launch plans for either model.
Crowded Chinese entrant field
Geely joins a growing queue of Chinese brands establishing Canadian websites ahead of launch:
- BYD launched its Canadian site in August showing only a "COMING SOON" message, with no vehicle lineup or pricing. The company has also been hiring for Canadian operations and dealer development.
- Omoda and Jaecoo (Chery Group) launched their site stating they are "coming late 2026" with a dealer network being built across Canada, but similarly lack Canadian pricing or a confirmed vehicle lineup.
All three brands are entering after Ottawa introduced a 49,000-vehicle quota for Chinese EV imports at a 6.1% tariff, effective March 1. Geely-owned Lotus has already shipped its first Lotus Eletre to Canada under the new framework, though Tesla has consumed the majority of the quota in the first window.
What's missing before launch
For Canadian buyers, the critical gaps remain: confirmed model lineup, Canadian pricing, warranty terms, charging network compatibility (NACS or CCS), and service infrastructure. Until those details arrive, geely.ca functions as a placeholder — a signal of intent rather than a transactional destination.
