Ford Recalls 86,543 Mustang Mach-Es in Canada Over Loose Window Trim

Ford is recalling 86,543 Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles in Canada because rear side quarter window glass trim can detach while driving. The affected model years are 2023 through 2025, and the defect traces to an assembly-process change at the supplier that left the trim pieces insufficiently bonded to the glass.

What the defect looks like

According to the NHTSA safety recall report (26V487), Ford's team identified a spike in warranty claims starting in May 2026 for loose or detached rear quarter window trim on 2023-2025 Mustang Mach-E vehicles. A detached trim piece can become a road hazard for vehicles behind the Mach-E, increasing crash risk. Customers may notice the trim is loose or not fully seated, or hear wind noise, squeaking, or rattling at speed.

• 2023-2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E (all trims)

The total Canadian population is 86,543 vehicles. Production dates for affected units run from February 17, 2023 to October 8, 2024. Ford says the root cause was a new assembly jig introduced at the supplier's facility that shortened installation time, not leaving enough time for the trim primer to cure before the piece was bonded to the quarter glass.

What owners should do

Owners should watch for loose trim or unusual wind noise from the rear side windows. If the trim is already loose, avoid highway speeds and book a service appointment immediately. Ford will replace the rear side quarter window glass assembly at no cost.
