Volkswagen has revealed the all-new ID. Tiguan compact electric SUV, which will replace the ID.4 and ID.5 in global markets. The model will be available in some markets in early 2027, while Canadian market timing has not been announced.
The battery-electric vehicle picks up a familiar VW name, with Volkswagen brand CEO Thomas Schäfer calling the ID. Tiguan one of the brand’s most important electric vehicles for the years ahead. The manufacturer said range with the larger battery is up to 600 kilometres on the WLTP test cycle, equivalent to around 514 kilometres on EPA testing.
Three powertrain options
- RWD with 140-kW (188 hp) motor and 58-kWh battery
- RWD with 210-kW (282 hp) motor and 77-kWh battery
- 4MOTION AWD with 220-kW (295 hp) and 77-kWh battery
The ID. Tiguan has a towing capacity of up to 2,000 kilograms.
Interior highlights
The ID. Tiguan features a triple-display layout with a 10-inch driver display, 15-inch centre infotainment screen and an available 12-inch front passenger display with privacy mode. Physical HVAC controls return, and the car offers two Qi2 wireless charging points with magnetic rings.
Design cues follow Volkswagen’s Pure Positive language, and a retro display option lets drivers choose digital instrument clusters modeled after classic Golf and Tiguan generations.
