Geely confirms Canadian launch with first vehicles arriving in 2027
Geely Auto Group says it is entering Canada in 2027, building a dealer and service network after launching geely.ca earlier this month.
Geely Auto Group has confirmed it will enter the Canadian market in 2027, with Managing Director Bryan Wu saying the company is already building local operations and partnerships across the country.
Just one week after launching its Canadian website geely.ca, the Chinese automaker announced the timeline on October 9, 2026. Geely has not yet named which models will come first, nor have pricing or dealership locations been released.
What Geely said
“Canada represents an important next step in Geely Auto’s international growth,” Wu said. “We are entering this market with a long-term commitment, bringing our global technology and engineering capabilities to Canadian drivers while building strong local partnerships and the support customers need to feel confident in choosing Geely.”
According to the company, work is underway on a retail and service network. Geely said it is working with experienced local partners to support customers before and after their purchases.
Preparing the launch
Geely has been laying groundwork for months. In April it began recruiting senior executives in Toronto, and in May EX5 and EX2 test vehicles were spotted arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport for evaluation.
The announcement follows Ottawa’s policy that allows up to 49,000 Chinese-built EVs annually at a reduced 6.1% tariff. BYD and Chery’s Omoda and Jaecoo brands have also launched Canadian websites, but no passenger vehicles have started selling under those names in Canada yet.
