Tesla to nearly double Supercharger stalls in Merritt, B.C.
Tesla is building a 32-stall Supercharger site on the former Merritt Visitor Centre property, adding major fast-charging capacity along the Coquihalla Highway.
Tesla is preparing a major expansion of its Supercharger network in Merritt, B.C., a small interior city that already hosts four stations with a combined 40 stalls.
According to Drive Tesla Canada, the company is building a site near the intersection of Highway 5 and Highway 5A on the former Merritt Visitor Centre property. Reader photos shared with the outlet show construction is well underway with at least 32 stalls, including several pull-through stalls for vehicles towing trailers.
Why Merritt matters for EV travel
Merritt sits at the junction of several major routes, including the Coquihalla Highway that connects the Lower Mainland with the interior. It is a common charging stop for drivers heading to Kamloops, Kelowna and destinations throughout B.C.
- Existing capacity: four Tesla Supercharger stations with 40 stalls
- New site: estimated 32 stalls
- Projected total: ~72 stalls after completion, an ~80% jump
More B.C. sites on the way
Drive Tesla reports construction is also underway on a 12-stall V4 site at Highgate Village in Burnaby, two new stations in Surrey, a site in Keremeos where work began in July, and a new Supercharger in Squamish in front of the Sea to Sky Hotel.
