Tesla Reschedules Next-Gen Roadster Reveal to October 15 Due to Severe Weather

Tesla has rescheduled its next-generation Roadster reveal by two weeks, moving the event from October 1 to October 15 due to severe weather in the forecast. The company confirmed the change Monday in a post on X titled “Roadster event update.”

“We’ve been tracking the weather closely with local meteorologists, but given the severe conditions predicted & because this event can only be held outdoors, we’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule. New date is October 15. Additional details to…”

The event is reportedly being held at SpaceX’s test facility in McGregor, Texas, just outside Waco. Invitations had already been sent to Roadster reservation holders for the original October 1 date.

Weather delay was telegraphed

The delay does not come as a complete surprise. Tesla had already warned invitees in an email sent Sunday afternoon titled “Important: Roadster Event Weather” that conditions could force a change:

“Since this event features a unique experience that must be held outdoors, there is a possibility we may need to reschedule due to weather. We are continuing to monitor weather reports and will reach out with additional details as soon as possible.”

The email was shared on X by reservation holder Brooks Weisblat (@DragTimes).

Building anticipation

Tesla has been building anticipation for the event in recent weeks. The company teased the next-generation Roadster with a “Go for launch” image before showing another glimpse of the car, featuring a full-width light bar, at the end of its Semi event last week.

Roadster reservations reopened in Canada and the U.S. earlier in 2026, with Tesla collecting a $5,000 deposit (refundable) to hold a place in line. The original Roadster debuted in 2006; this next-generation version has been in development for years with claimed specs including 0-60 mph in under 1.9 seconds, 620+ miles of range, and a top speed over 250 mph.

Canadian reservation holders will need to adjust travel plans for the new October 15 date. Tesla says additional details will follow.
