Tesla Begins Construction on New Kelowna Supercharger to Double City Capacity
Tesla has started construction on a 16-stall V4 Supercharger in Kelowna, British Columbia, which will be the third Supercharger location in the city and double charging capacity.
Tesla has started construction on a new Supercharger station in Kelowna, British Columbia, which will double the city's electric vehicle charging capacity upon completion.
The new Supercharger is located at the Orchard Park Shopping Center at 2271 Harvey Ave. This location was previously marked as 'in development' on Tesla's map but is now confirmed to be under construction.
Third Supercharger Location for Kelowna
This will be Tesla's third Supercharger station in Kelowna. The new 16-stall V4 Supercharger joins:
- An existing 8-stall V2 Supercharger behind the Best Western Plus hotel at Leckie Rd and Hwy 97
- An 8-stall V3 Supercharger at the Okanagan Lake Shopping Centre in West Kelowna
With the addition of the new 16-stall station, Kelowna's total Supercharger capacity will increase from 16 stalls to 32 stalls, effectively doubling the city's charging capability for Tesla and compatible non-Tesla EVs.
Construction Progress Already Visible
Construction has progressed significantly, with several V4 Supercharger posts already installed at the site. The development was confirmed by X user Troy Ryder, who shared pictures showing the 16-stall Supercharger taking shape in the south side of the Orchard Park Shopping Center parking lot.
The new station follows Tesla's standard V4 Supercharger design, capable of delivering up to 250kW peak power per stall, though actual charging speeds will depend on vehicle capabilities and station utilization.
Strategic Location for Okanagan Travel
The Orchard Park Shopping Center location is strategically positioned to serve both local Kelowna EV owners and travelers passing through the Okanagan Valley. The site is easily accessible from Highway 97, the main north-south route through British Columbia's interior.
This expansion continues Tesla's pattern of strengthening charging infrastructure along major travel corridors, making longer electric vehicle trips more convenient for residents and visitors alike.
