salesFord EV Sales Sink 80% in Q3 2026 as Mach-E and Lightning Struggle
Ford’s EV sales dropped 80% year-over-year in Q3 2026, with Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning posting steep declines as incentives faded.
Ford’s electric vehicle sales kept sliding in the third quarter of 2026, falling 80% compared with a record quarter a year ago, with all of its remaining EVs posting significant declines.
U.S. sales numbers
Ford sold 6,047 EVs in Q3 2026, down 80.2% from 30,612 in Q3 2025 and 38% from the 9,746 delivered in Q2 2026.
Last year’s comparison is distorted by a rush to beat the U.S. federal tax credit expiry on September 30, 2025. The quarter-on-quarter fall shows the slowdown goes beyond a one-time effect.
EVs accounted for 1.2% of Ford’s U.S. sales in Q3, down from 5.6% a year earlier.
Model breakdown
- Mustang Mach-E: 5,574 units, -72.4% from 20,177 in Q3 2025; -20.7% from 7,032 in Q2 2026.
- F-150 Lightning: 289 units, -97.1% from 10,005 a year ago and -88% from 2,421 in Q2. Production of the battery-electric Lightning ended in late 2025.
- E-Transit: 184 units, -57.2% from 430 in Q3 2025.
Through September, Ford has sold 22,653 EVs in the U.S., down 67.5% from 69,600 in the same period of 2025. Hybrids declined 19.7% to 44,308, helped by Maverick Hybrid record deliveries of 27,793 units.
