Audi A6 E-Tron Sets Guinness World Record: 1,337 km on a Single Charge — 72% Over Official Range
Polish rally champion Miko Marczyk drove an Audi A6 Sportback E-Tron 1,337 km (831 miles) on one charge, averaging 7.09 kWh/100 km — less than half the official consumption. The production EV record was set on public roads in Poland.
Polish rally champion Miko Marczyk has set a new Guinness World Record for the farthest distance driven by a production electric vehicle on a single charge, piloting an Audi A6 Sportback E-Tron for 1,337.36 kilometres (831 miles) — 72% farther than the vehicle's official WLTP range of 777 km (483 miles).
Hypermilng at rally pace
Marczyk averaged just 7.09 kWh/100 km during the record-breaking run — less than half the official combined consumption figure. The journey took more than 45 hours behind the wheel, starting in the early hours of September 11 in Poland. The route followed the Vistula River, passing through Krakow, Sandomierz, Warsaw, Torun, and Grudziadz before reaching Hel on the Baltic Sea, then backtracking over the same route until the battery depleted between Torun and Ciechocinek.
Average temperature was around 15°C (59°F), dipping to 7°C (45°F) at one point. The route followed public roads in normal traffic, including rush-hour conditions.
Built for efficiency
The A6 Sportback E-Tron's aerodynamic credentials underpin the result. With a 0.21 drag coefficient, it is Audi's most aerodynamic production car ever. It carries a 94.9 kWh battery pack, and regenerative braking can provide up to 220 kW of energy recovery — approximately 95% of braking events are handled through recuperation.
Marczyk's technique was methodical: use regenerative braking intelligently, keep tires properly inflated, anticipate traffic, avoid unnecessary acceleration and braking, and know the car. This isn't his first Guinness record; last year he piloted a Skoda Superb diesel for 2,831 km (1,759 miles) on a single tank, achieving 2.61 L/100 km (90.1 mpg).
Reality check for owners
Should Audi A6 Sportback E-Tron owners expect similar range? No. Marczyk's effort was a dedicated hypermiling run under near-ideal conditions. Real-world driving with climate control, higher speeds, and less anticipation will yield significantly lower range. The record demonstrates the vehicle's potential efficiency ceiling, not typical daily performance.
It's also worth noting this is the production-vehicle record. The overall EV distance record belongs to TUfast Eco Team, whose muc022 prototype travelled 2,573.79 km (1,599.27 miles) in Germany three years ago.
What this means for Canadian buyers
For Canadian EV shoppers, the A6 Sportback E-Tron's record underscores a key point: modern long-range EVs have enough battery capacity and efficiency that range anxiety is increasingly a charging-infrastructure problem, not a vehicle problem. With a 94.9 kWh pack and 0.21 Cd, the A6 E-Tron is among the most aerodynamically efficient EVs on sale — a factor that pays dividends on Canadian highways where steady speeds dominate.
