Tesla Robotaxi App Adds 'Stop Now' Command, X Money Payments

Tesla's Robotaxi app is gaining new tools designed around the unique needs of a driverless ride experience, according to code discovered in the latest app build by independent tracker Tesla App Updates.

'Stop Now' command for approaching vehicles

Among the discoveries in version 26.8.2 is a new "Stop Now" command that gives riders a way to halt an arriving vehicle before pickup. Unlike cancelling a ride, the feature is designed to stop a vehicle that is already approaching the pickup location. The code suggests a geofence would limit the option to vehicles close to the rider, and after the vehicle accepts the request, the app would display a banner confirming it is pulling over.

Cybercab door assistance and internet unlock backup

Since Cybercab vehicles do not have traditional door handles, the app appears to be preparing riders for manual door operation through new instructional images. Additional strings reference an internet-based unlock backup system that could be used if the rider's phone cannot complete the Bluetooth or ultra-wideband connection with the vehicle. The app would verify the ride session with Tesla's servers before sending the unlock command through the vehicle's cellular connection.

X Money integration as native payment

Payment options may also be expanding. The tracker found references to X Money being integrated as a native payment method within the Robotaxi app wallet. The setup process appears to send users to X through the app or web before returning a payment token to Tesla. If the X session has expired, riders would reportedly be asked to sign in again.

Other code discoveries include referral tracking tied to links, ads, or QR codes, a full-screen animation after a successful referral ride, a cabin display brightness slider, and a backup payment screen supporting alternatives such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
