BC Hydro Opens 350 kW EV Charging Hub in Hope
BC Hydro has switched on its first 350 kW ultra-fast charging hub in Hope, B.C., giving drivers on Highways 1, 3 and 5 access to the fastest public chargers in the province.
BC Hydro has switched on its first dedicated ultra-fast EV charging hub in Hope, delivering the highest-powered chargers in its provincial network and giving drivers on Highways 1, 3 and 5 a significant boost in convenience and charging speed.
Location and power
The hub is located at the Esso Gas Station and Silver Creek Travel Centre at 19700 Klassen Road, beside Tesla’s 24-stall Supercharger. The site features four 350 kW chargers, each capable of adding roughly 100 kilometres of range in about five minutes.
With power sharing, each unit can support two EVs simultaneously at up to 175 kW, allowing as many as eight vehicles to charge at once.
Network growth
Over the past year BC Hydro has tripled the size of its network, adding 418 new charging ports and opening roughly two dozen new multi-port hubs across B.C. The network now includes 753 ports at 170 sites, with a target of 800 ports by spring 2026.
The Hope hub is a preview of what’s ahead. BC Hydro plans to introduce its first 400 kW charger later this year, capable of adding 100 km of range in as little as three minutes.
